The GUE Fundamentals course is designed to cultivate the essential skills required for sound diving practice, irrespective of level or environment. The GUE Fundamentals program is a prerequisite for all GUE training except for Recreational Diver Level 1 – Nitrox Diver and GUE Primer programs. The GUE Fundamentals program prepares you for Recreational or Technical progression in the GUE training system.

Along with providing non-GUE trained divers a gateway to future training with GUE, the course is an excellent starting point for the recreationally certified diver who does not wish to enroll in professional-level training, but would still like to develop their skills improve their confidence and comfort in the water.

For those divers with aspirations to supervise or train other divers, the program provides students with tools and skills that will provide them a very strong foundation for future success.

What will I need?
Your own gear (rentals available). All GUE courses have specific equipment requirements. Contact us at Scuba Shack for details. A complete medical statement and releases. You’ll need the GUE Primer Workbook along with Doing it Right: The Fundamentals of Better Diving by Jarrod Jablonski. You’ll need to register online at the GUE website.

What will my commitment be?
The course consists of 20 hours of academic training and 20 hours of confined water and/or open water training.

What results should I expect?
As a recreational diver, all of your basic diving skills will be improved, ensuring your are more confident and comfortable in the water.
