Suunto announces high pressure hose recall

Suunto recently launched a worldwide recall of a limited batch of high pressure rubber hoses used on Suunto air-integrated dive computers, dive computer consoles and analog consoles. These hoses have been identified to have defective hose material which may impact the durability of the hose. Suunto announced this recall on Aug. 22, 2013.

Scuba Shack customers who have purchased Suunto products effected have already been contacted directly, but you can inspect your own hose to determine if it is on the recall list.

Suunto product codes with which the affected hose has been used are listed in the attachment. Suunto estimates to have shipped maximum quantity of 2,500 affected hoses globally, between Nov. 2012 and July 2013. This recall apples only to the specific 1812 batch of the high pressure rubber hoses.

Identification of the affected high pressure rubber hoses:

  • Black rubber outer covering on hose
  • Marked with text 5000 PSIG PRESSURE TESTED – MADE IN USA
  • Hose diameter approximately 12.5 mm (1/2 inch) and length approximately 84 cm (33 inch)
  • Manufacturing batch code 1812 printed only

If the hose you have has the manufacturing batch code 1812 on it, diving with the product is prohibited until the hose has been replaced.
