A very busy week! 2023 is off and running.

Scuba Shack Weekly - Volume 6 No. 227.

We are off and running in 2023. It has been an incredibly busy week here at Scuba Shack, Scuba Shack Radio and my non-profit - Scuba Educational Alliance of CT (SEACT). One thing for sure is that I am far from bored in retirement. I guess I am only technically retired.

The week started off with a very special interview that I did with Dr. Alex Brylske. You might recognize his name from his long and rich history in the diving industry. Alex joined me this past Monday where he gave us a little bit of a “behind the scenes” look at how PADI developed their recreational dive planner (RDP) and multi-level wheel. My interview with Alex will be available next Monday on Scuba Shack Radio.

Then on Tuesday night, we kicked off our 2023 PADI Divemaster class. Sonja, Shay, Tom and Alfred started on their journey as dive professionals. Our Divemaster class is an intense training period over the next several months and our plan is for the four to obtain this prestigious designation by May. Wish them luck.

But wait there’s more. On Wednesday evening, we hosted a virtual informational session on our upcoming Philippines trip. Yes, we are FINALLY going. Les Corkill from Atlantis Dive Resort joined us for a great update on Dumaguete and what to expect. Donna and I had a fantastic trip there in 2019 and we can’t wait to get back for 10 awesome days of diving. We’ve recorded the session in case you weren’t able to make the live event. It is available on YouTube. Click here.

And if that isn’t enough, tonight we are having our latest board of directors meeting for SEACT and that will be followed by the first Boston Sea Rovers meeting of 2023. Monty and I continue to work with the Sea Rovers as they look to get back to their normal March clinic in 2024.

Well, I am back to working on tanks and regulators as we gear up for the start of our dive season next week with our first open water class, discover scuba diving and refreshers.

Until then, take care,

Jeff
