Terms & Conditions

Unless otherwise stated, scuba quality equipment, travel expenses, hotel, meals, park entrance fees, e-Learning, etc, if required, are not included in course fees.

 

Equipment

Scuba Quality Equipment

For the safety of students and staff, scuba quality equipment is required for all classes. Use of snorkeling-rated equipment (Mask/Fins) is not allowed.  If you have any questions about the quality or condition of your gear, we are happy to evaluate the suitability of the gear at no additional cost.

Scuba Shack's Discover Scuba and Open Water Certification training:  The use of a quality BCD, Regulator, Computer, Compass, Tanks, and Weights is provided at no additional cost. 

Recreational-level classes: Tanks and Weights are provided at no additional cost.

Classes beyond Open Water Certification: Advanced or Speciality classes may require students to have their own gear which may include items like an SMB and Spool, Dive Light and Compass.  Scuba Shack is happy to provide the use gear for training for an additional rental fee (prices vary based on the type of gear required).  Gear rental fees may be applied to the purchase of same/similar gear within 14 days of rental. 

 

Withdrawals and Cancellations

In scheduling and determining additional costs, Scuba Shack Divers, LLC will give reasonable consideration to unforeseen events, such as family emergencies or illness. 

 

Withdrawal Requests 

  • Received prior to 1 week before the start of class: Cancellation fee equal to 25% of the course tuition up to a maximum of $100 will be assessed.
  • Received between 1 week and 48 hours before the start of class: Cancellation fee equal to 50% of the course tuition on up to a maximum of $200 will be assessed.
  • Recieved less than 48 hours before the start of class: Non-refundable

Note: Future enrollment will be at full tuition.

 

Reschedule Requests

  • Received prior to 1 week before the start of class: No-charge
  • Received less than 1 week: A 15% rescheduling free will be assessed.

 

Digital and Educational materials are non-refundable

This includes any electronic learning, crew paks, log books and/or manuals etc.

 

Class Requirements

Open Water Certification Dives

Open Water Certification Dives are sold separately from Class Tuition and e-Learning and must be completed within one year from the start of PADI e-Learning registration. If a period of 3 months or more has elapsed between the classroom/confined water dives and the start of Open Water Certification dives, a refresher (Pool) session will be required at a cost of $125. Medical Questionaire

Industry standards required that students without a completed RSTC Medical Questionnaires must not be allowed to participate in any in-water training or open water dives.  If a completed RSTC Medical Questionaire is not received before the the in-water session of a class begins, you will be disenrolled and will need to re-enroll in a future class. See Withdrawal or Reschedule Requests above.

 

Students Requiring Additional Sessions

If you have completed all coursework but are unable to fullfil the course requirements during the regularly scheduled course hours, Scuba Shack can provide additional and personalized sessions at a cost of $150 per session, until either (A) you master the course objectives, or (B) you voluntarily withdraw. If a pool is required, we will make every attempt to schedule the additional session during our regular pool availability.  If your schedule cannot accomidate this, an additional pool rental fee in addition fo the per-session cost may be required.

 

Late Arrival  / Missed Class / Missed Pool Sessions

Late arrival/missed class/pool sessions may require a make-up session(s) for a fee of $150 per session. Additional pool rental may be required. 

Pool Rental Fee – Up to $200 per session.

No refunds will be given after the start of the class

 

Service Department

At Scuba Shack, we service everything we sell and accept repair orders by USPS, UPS & FEDEX. Return shipping by UPS will be added to your invoice. Contact Scuba Shack for details.

Evaluation Fees

Gear that has been regularly maintained according to manufacterer requirements (generally an inspection every year and a rebuild every other year) does not require an evaluation fee.

Gear that is out-of-maintenance will incur a non-refundable $50 evaluation fee and the owner will be provided with an estimate of costs after the evaluation.  If the service is approved by the owner, the evaluation fee will be applied to the repair costs.  If the owner does not approve the service, the evaluation fee can be applied toward new equipment within 14-days of receiving the cost estimate.

Turn-Around Time

Our general turn-around time for service on most items is about two to 3 weeks (excludes shipping time).  However if repair parts are needed to complete your service that are out-of-stock, you will be notified and additional time may be required. We will notify you when service has been completed. 

Service Pick-Up

We request that you pick-up your gear within 30 days. Equipment left at Scuba Shack beyond 30 days is subject to a storage fee of $5 per week. Equipment left at Scuba Shack beyond 6 months will be deamed abandoned by the owner and becomes the property of Scuba Shack. 

 

Travel

Travel Terms & Conditions

We will do our best to locate roommates for Double Divers signing up on their own, but do not make any guarantee.

If a roommate is not available, the Single Diver rate will apply.  

Scuba Shack strongly recommends that all travelers purchase trip insurance to protect them against unforseen events.  Travel insurance can be purchased thru the Divers Alert Network.

Refunds and Cancellations

Unless otherwise stated, a refundable deposit of $500 is required to make your reservation. Your deposit is refundable in full (less an administration fee - varies by trip cost) if received no less than the non-refundable date specified on the trip or 6 months prior to the trip start date whichever is greater.

Cancellations received after the non-refundable date: Scuba Shack will attempt to find a suitable replacement.  If one can be found a refund will be provided minus an administrative fee.  If one cannot be found, no refund can be provided.

Unless otherwise stated, deposits become Non-Refundable 6 months prior to the trip start date.   

Payment in Full 

“Payment in Full” dates vary by trip, but are no less than 8 weeks in advance of the departure date. See trip info for the specific dates.

 

Retail

Merchandise Return Terms & Conditions

RMAs (Return Merchandise Authorization) are required for all purchases (contact info@scubashackct.com with RMA Request in the subject field) and must be postmarked no more than 14 days from your receipt of the product. If 14 days or more have passed since the receipt of your purchase, we cannot offer a refund or exchange. 

Buyers are responsible for return shipping fees. Returns can be brought directly to the shop.

All returns should be packaged adequately to prevent damage during shipping.

We strongly recommend using a traceable form of delivery and are not responsible for packages lost in transit without proof of delivery.  

Original shipping fees are not refundable. 

Once your return has been processed, an exchange or refund may take up to 7-10 business days.

Scuba Shack Divers, LLC is not responsible for missing packages with confirmed delivery to your specified address.

New Un-Open Item Returns

Items must include all original manufacturer packaging in resaleable condition, including directions, tags, blank warranty cards and Scuba Shack RMA number. 

We reserve the right to refuse the return (or apply a 25% restocking fee) if not in clean, new, un-opened condition. 

New, Open but Unused 

Items in clean "New, Open but Unused" condition may be exchanged or returned for In-Store Credit (minus a restocking fee of 25%). We reserve the right to refuse the return if not in clean, new, open but unused condition. 

Items in used condition are non-refundable 

Items not eligible for return or exchange will not be returned to sender and will not be eligible for credit. 

Closeouts, Discontinued, Special/Commercial, Custom Order, “AS IS” items

All closeouts, discountined, special/custom order and "As-is" items are not eligible for return

Incorrect or Defective Items

If an incorrect or defective item is received, email us within 7 days at info@scubashackct.com or contact the shop directly at 860-563-0119 for further instructions.

Scuba Shack Divers, LLC reserves the right to refuse an item or apply a 25% restocking fee if items are not returned according to the above policies.

Cancelled Orders

If you decide to cancel your order after it has shipped but before it has been delivered to you, please note that there is a non-negotiable fee of $24.90 - the fee imposed by UPS to reroute a delivery that is already in transit. Your refund will be processed, less the $24.90 fee.

 

Rentals 

 

Rental Terms & Conditions

A signed Rental Agreement is required at the time of pick up. 

At the time of rental, divers must:

  • Show their certification card as proof of Open Water and/or Nitrox Certification. 
  • Examine and inspect the rental equipment and confirm that it is in good condition in every respect at the time of pick up.

At the time of return, divers must:

  • Return the rental gear to Scuba Shack Divers, LLC during regular business hours in the same condition as received, less ordinary and normal wear and tear and in clean condition. 
  • Rental gear returned to Scuba Shack in need of cleaning is subject to a $15 Cleaning Fee.
  • Rental gear returned to Scuba Shack after the agreed upon return date, is subject to a late fee equivalent to 1 day's rental, for each day that it is late.    

Lost Rental Equipment

In the event the equipment is lost, damaged or destroyed while in your possession, you are responsible for all replacement charges and costs. 

Scuba Shack Divers, LLC is not responsible for injuries either to you or to any other person and/or for any damage to property that may result through the use or misuse of the equipment while it is in your possession.

Quotes

Quotes are valid for 30 days from issue. Please note that quotes are subject to change based on vendor availability and pricing until a Purchase Order is received or until Invoiced.
