Our PADI Advanced Open Water course will take your diving to the next level! This course helps you build confidence in Navigation, fine-tune your Buoyancy skills, experiencing Deep Diving and introduce you to different diving activities such as Wreck Diving, Delayed Surface Marker Buoy deployment or maybe Underwater Naturalist. Start thinking like a diver!

After completing your PADI Advanced Open Water online course, you will experience your five advanced open water dives with Scuba Shack. Required dives include both Navigation and Deep. Your other three dives typically include a peak performance buoyancy dive, a delayed surface marker buoy deployment dive or maybe a wreck dive or underwater naturalist dive.

The specific dives and locations will vary with each Advanced Open Water class. Dive locations may include Fort Wetherill in Jamestown, RI, Bigelow Hollow State Park in Union, CT, Brownstone Sports Adventure Park in Portland, CT or Lake George, NY. Other dive sites and charters will also be considered. Details will be discussed during your organizational meeting.

**This course fee covers your Advanced Open Water tuition with Scuba Shack. You must purchase your online course separately. Travel, meals, lodging, boat charter fees or rental equipment costs are not included in this course fee. For training at Brownstone Sports Adventure Park we've included park entrance fees.

What Qualifications Do I Need to Start?

You must be a certified PADI Open Water Diver (or qualifying certification from another organization)
Minimum age: 15 (12 for PADI Junior Advanced Open Water Diver)

How Does It Work?

You can start the Advanced Open Water eLearning at any time. Then enroll in one of our upcoming Scuba Shack classes. You will need to complete your electronic learning in its entirety prior to the start of class. 

Once you are registered for a specific class, you will meet with your instructor here at Scuba Shack, where you will go over your specific schedule for the Advanced Open Water course. Then get ready to complete your five advanced open water dives.

Do I Need My Own Equipment?

Yes - as a diver you should have your basic scuba kit consisting of a mask, snorkel, fins, boots, wetsuit, buoyancy compensator,  regulator, tanks and weights. Wetsuits are highly recommended. With advanced notice, BCDs, regulators, Tanks, Weights, wetsuits, hood & gloves are available through Scuba Shack's Rental Program. Plan to pick up your Rental gear before class and return it by the end of business on Tuesday. (We are closed on Sunday and Monday). Tanks and weights are not included in the class fee. Rental Terms & Conditions apply.

This class also requires a  dive computer and compass which are available for rent, and a surface marker buoy and spool which must be purchased.

2.    Purchase your Scuba Shack Advanced Open Water Course.
3.    Get your scuba kit together.
4.    Make your arrangements to travel to the specific dive sites and ensure you are registered for all boat charters (if necessary)
5.    Get ready for FUN! Become a more experienced and competent scuba diver.

Is There Anything Else?

Yes - everyone who takes the PADI Advanced Open Water Class must complete Liability Forms and an RSTC Medical Questionnaire). Based on your responses, you may be required to have your physician clear you for recreational scuba diving. A fully completed medical questionnaire is an absolute requirement prior to any in-water activity with Scuba Shack.
