Scuba Shack Weekly - Volume 6. No. 233.

It’s time! It is time to head to Bonaire. The Scuba Shack group will be arriving in Bonaire on Saturday for a week of diving while staying at the Divi Flamingo Resort. We heard from Sarah, one of our divers who splits her time between Bonaire and Connecticut that the water temperature right now is about 79 degrees. That’s not too bad. We are all looking forward to some great diving.

Last weekend, Bill and Mike finished up our second confined water class for the year. Three of our four new divers are planning to do referrals to a tropical location for their certification dives. We still need to wait until May before we venture out to Rhode Island for our open water dives.

Also, this weekend at the pool was a big one for our up and coming divemasters. They completed several of their watermanship skills and worked on their open water skill demonstrations. Not only that, they worked as George’s students as he prepares for his Instructor Exam. Monty and Jay really put all of them through their paces. And then on Sunday, Donna and George conducted a Discover Scuba.

I was in the pool checking out all of my new gear for Bonaire. Let’s see - new Recon fins, new Akona low-cut Fit boots, new Henderson Thermaxx 3mm wetsuit, and new Halcyon Adventurer Pro 20 BC. Plus a rebuilt Apeks XTX-50 regulator.

Our updated Core Principles class is just around the corner. Mike and Bill are set to start. The class is scheduled to start on Saturday March 11. Check it out.

And finally, we are getting close to final sign up for the Memorial Day Weekend trip to Grand Cayman. The last day to sign up is March 10 for the trip that runs May 24 - 29. We still have a few rooms left.

Okay - now it is time to head south!

Jeff
