Celebrating 45 Years of Quality Scuba Diving, New PADI Instructors and more

Scuba Shack Weekly - Volume 5. No 193.

On May 12, 1977,  Scuba Shack opened it's doors on the Silas Deane Highway in Rocky Hill, CT. Today we are celebrating our 45th anniversary. We would like to thank everyone who has continued to support our dive shop. Without you there would be no Scuba Shack. Scuba Shack has continued to grow and change over the years along with the scuba diving industry. In 2018 we moved the dive center from the Silas Deane location to our current home at 1275 Cromwell Ave, Rocky Hill in the Shunpike Business Center. This new location has allowed us to continue to provide our quality diving services and positions us for the future. Forty-five years and counting.

Congratulations to Bill and Jay for completing their PADI Instructor Exam over the past weekend. They headed down to the warm waters of Fort Lauderdale and finished up Sunday morning. We are very fortunate to have them joining our instructor core as we head into the busy dive season.

Monty and Chris are also back from their Florida diving adventure. One of the highlights of their trip was a visit to the Blue Heron Bridge in Riviera Beach. This dive is rated as one of the best shore dives in the United States. I would definitely agree.

Ron and Alex started a new open water scuba class this week. They started out with their dive planning class on Tuesday night. Alex will pick up at the shop tonight working on their equipment orientation then it is off to the pool on Saturday and Sunday.

Monty along with Ned’s assistance completed some full-face mask work with one of our public safety teams and worked on skills ahead of their open water scuba certification dives in early June.

It looks like there is some great weather on the horizon. It seems like it has been a cooler spring than normal. Maybe it has just been because of all the wind. But the forecast is calling for some warm and sunny weather. Hopefully, that will warm up the water a little bit. So get out there and go diving.

Until next week - take care,

Jeff
