Scuba Shack Weekly - Volume 5  No. 208.

How did we get to the end of August already? The busy dive season seems to have flown by. But we still have plenty of nice weather to get out there and go diving. We need to enjoy it while we can.

First up this week I just want to let everyone know that Scuba Shack will be closed on August 31 through September 5. We are taking a little bit of a break around the Labor Day holiday. Donna and I are heading down to Sunset House on Grand Cayman to get in a few dives. We need to get into the Cayman mindset before our trip to Little Cayman in October. The shop will open on Tuesday September 6 with our normal hours of noon to six.

We all would like to congratulate Mary on completing her Divemaster program with Scuba Shack. Mary started her program down in Bonaire before returning to Connecticut and working with us here at the shop. Welcome to the professional world of scuba.

Over the past weekend, Tom led a group of divers up to Lake George in New York for their open water certification dives. Tom wanted to try something different and three of his students decided to make the trip to Lake George to complete their dives. Congratulations to Melanie, Robert, and Sonja - our newest open water divers. We hope to continue this option for our new divers next year.

Bill and Mike also completed another open water course at the New Britain YMCA over the weekend. This was another full class. Believe it or not, we only have one more open water class on the schedule this year in September. Standby however, we might be looking to add a class later in the year for those who plan on doing referrals to a warm water destination.

Bill also conducted a Nitrox class on Wednesday night. More divers taking the path toward reducing their risks with enriched air.

We will be back at Jamestown this weekend. If you happen to be in the area, please stop by and say hello. We are expecting another great weather weekend.

Until next week, take care.

Jeff
