Scuba Shack Weekly - Volume 5 No. 180.
I hope everyone had a good first week of February 2022. We were fortunate with the weather last Friday. Seems like we were in a little bit of a warm spot in central Connecticut. Most of the day was rainy and we avoided the ice. I know that not everyone was as fortunate. Tom told me that they got about an inch of ice down in Danbury. Some of the scenes from around the state looked pretty bad. Again, we were pretty lucky.
So after several delays due to the weather conditions, we were finally able to start our Core Principles class. Monty kicked things off on Saturday morning by conducting an in-depth classroom session related to the configuration and approach. Everyone’s gear was checked out and readied for the pool session. Then Mike along with Bill took the group to New Britain YMCA for their first pool session with work on buoyancy, trim and propulsion. The class continues this week with a review of the in-water video and a second three-hour pool session on Super Bowl Sunday. Don’t worry, they will wrap up in plenty of time for kick off.
Also, this past Saturday, Matt had a couple of divers come to the pool to complete a scuba skills review. They realized how valuable this session was before they venture out on their next dive trip. Like everything, if you don’t use it, you lose it.
We have just opened up sign up on the website for those interested in Discover Scuba Diving, PADI reActivate, or our skill refresher session. We have limited spots available on Sunday March 6. It is easy to reserve your spot online. Registration closes on February 26.
In case you missed it, in the last episode of Scuba Shack Radio I talked about a dive that we did on Maui at a site called Manta Point. You can check out the video from the dive on Scuba Shack TV. That was an absolutely awesome dive and if you ever have the chance to dive with manta rays - you won’t be disappointed.
Enjoy the Super Bowl this weekend and have a great Valentine’s Day.
Until next week, take care.
Jeff
