First Snow Storm, Tanks Galore and much more

Scuba Shack Weekly - Volume 7 No. 274.

So how did you make out with this first snowstorm of the winter? I believe in our part of the state we were a little fortunate to have the snow totals come in below what was predicted. That is always a good thing. It is also a good thing when your homeowners association has the snow removal crew clearing things off, but at 3 am it can make it difficult to sleep. I will take the lack of sleep to shoveling snow anyday.

Donna and I hosted our Little Cayman trip meeting on Thursday night. We did this by zoom and went through the final logistics, discussed some of the aspects of the trip and then answered any last minute questions. The travel team is all set for our journey in just over one week.

Saturday was one for the record books - a record on tank inspections. Mike, Steven and Monty did all of the heavy lifting on getting all of our tanks including the Nitrox tanks cleaned and inspected for the year. My job was working at the fill station. We still have a few tanks in the pipeline with hydrostatic testing. It really feels good to have the tanks ready for the dive season.

Earlier this week Ron and I met with Meriden high school to outline our Scuba Educational Alliance of Connecticut 2024 program. We are going to kick things off with two coral reef conservation courses at both high schools for Earth Day and then in June, right after school ends, we will conduct our second open water class for four more students.

Last night was our Rocio del Mar (Sea of Cortez) trip information session. Donna and I walked folks through the details of the trip and logistics associated with this epic adventure. It is most definitely an adventure. I recorded the session and will try to get it posted on YouTube soon.

We are definitely off and running in 2024.

Take care,

Jeff
