Great Earth Day Celebration

Scuba Shack Weekly - Volume 7 No. 289.
Things have been a bit quiet this week at Scuba Shack as there is a large contingent of our divers in Islamorada. Monty, Mike, Bill, Shea, Tom A, Sonja, Nancy, Steven, Cheyenne, and several other regulars headed out last Saturday for five days of diving with Islamorada Dive Center. This is the second year that this group has headed down there for some early season diving.
And while this group was out diving, Ron and I ran two PADI AWARE Coral Reef Conservation courses at both Meriden high schools. The programs were sponsored by our non-profit - Scuba Educational Alliance of Connecticut. We had a great turnout. Over the two days we had 25 individuals participate. In addition to the high school students, we also had faculty, parents and siblings participate. Our youngest future ocean steward was nine years old and she was deeply concerned and interested in coral reef conservation. We are very proud of the work we did and are looking forward to our next cohort of open water students starting in June. This is a labor of love for Ron and myself but that being said we sure could use some financial support to defray the expenses. Please consider supporting SEACT by donating here.
The latest episode of Scuba Shack Radio - Episode 136 is now available. In addition to my normal dive shop updates and Wet Notes, I also discuss customer service in the dive industry.
Tom J is back from his fam trip to Fort Young on Dominica and he told us it is a really great place for a dive trip with so much to do both above and below the water. We will be finalizing the plans for our April 2025 trip soon and get those on the website.
Let’s get ready for May
Take care,
Jeff
