Scuba Shack Weekly - Volume 6 No. 259.
Welcome to September everyone. Well the new month brought us some sad news. If you’ve been around Scuba Shack - especially in the repair shop, you’ll know that Radio Margaritaville is a staple as we listen to Jimmy Buffett. We were shocked to learn of his passing. I’ve been a Parrot Head before we were called Parrot Heads. I first started listening to Jimmy back in 1975 when I bought my first album - A1A. I listened to that so many times - can’t forget “Door Number Three”, “Trying to Reason with the Hurricane Season” and “Stories We Could Tell” Fair winds and following seas, Jimmy.
The weather cooperated this time for the night dive last Friday night at Stonington Point. Monty, Mike and Bill lead the way and the gang was treated to some interesting underwater nightlife including a baby shark and several squid. After diving, they fired up the grill for a beachside cookout. Thanks to everyone who made it down to Dubois Beach.
Last night we hosted an informational session for our upcoming trip to Little Cayman where we talked about Little Cayman Beach Resort, diving with Reef Divers and all the fantastic underwater world of Bloody Bay Wall. Our trip is in January 2024 and believe it or not, that is not that far away. We still have space available. If you are ready to join us, please don’t wait, we will need to release any unbooked rooms very, very soon. If you were not able to make the session last night, you can watch the replay on YouTube.
Tonight we start another Advanced Open Water course. Our first session is here at Scuba Shack where there is an orientation, gear review and planning for the upcoming weekend. Our four students will be conducting their five advanced open water dives at Brownstone Sports Adventure Park on Saturday and Sunday. Looks like we are going to have some great weather.
If you happen to need lead, we have just received a shipment of soft weights. We have two, three, four and five pound bags available now at Scuba Shack.
Now - are you ready for SOME FOOTBALL! I am.
Until next week - take care,
Jeff
