Scuba Shack Weekly - Volume 6 No. 245.

Ready, Set, Get Wet! Yes we are getting ready for a lot of activity here at Scuba Shack. May is always a big month for us here as we make our way into the dive season.

First, I just want to give you an update on our hours for next week. We will be open with normal hours on Tuesday May 23. The shop will be closed on Wednesday May 24 and Thursday May 25 as we make our way down to the Caymans. Monty will open the shop on both Friday May 26 and Saturday May 27 with normal hours. Thanks for understanding - we love getting away for some diving.

This week we spent our time getting everything ready for our first open water weekend at Fort Wetherill. There is quite a lot of planning and logistics that go into creating a safe, enjoyable, and fruitful weekend for both our students and our dive professionals. Our checklist is out to ensure that we do not miss anything and we are also preparing our emergency action plan for the weekend - something we do every time we head to the dive site.

We are also getting our personal gear ready for Grand Cayman as we make our way down to Sunset House next Wednesday. This is a new destination for our Memorial Day trip but it is a very familiar location for Donna and me. Sunset House is one of my all-time favorite places to get away and get some great diving done. Stay tuned for an update.

Mike and Bill are also getting ready for the next Foundations and Principles of Diving course. They have continued to put a great deal of work into the curriculum and as you might have seen, it is now a PADI Distinctive Specialty. We are just about two weeks away from the start on June 3.

Ron is making preparations for a private open water course in a couple of weeks at the Meriden YMCA. He and I headed down to the Meriden to check out the pool on Wednesday and meet with the aquatic director.

And finally, it looks like we have our four students selected for the Scuba Educational Alliance of CT’s first open water scuba certification class. The class will start in mid-June at Maloney High School and we hope to have them through their open water certification dives in early July.

Next stop - Grand Cayman and Sunset House.

Take care,

Jeff
