I trust that everyone is doing well this week as we make our way into the second half of January 2023. Yes this is the coldest time of the year up here in Connecticut but that isn’t stopping us from starting our diving. More on that.
On Saturday, we had our first staff training session for 2023. It was great to get everyone together and spend several hours going over some very important safety updates. Monty took the group through our required Hazmat training as well as reviewed fill station operations. He finished up the training with gas blender training. We have more staff training scheduled over the next month to make sure we are ready for a very busy dive season.
Also on Saturday, I worked with our instructor core on setting up the schedule for our open water classes for a good part of the year. We start our open water training tonight. Tom will be taking the lead for this class. They are scheduled for the classroom again on Saturday morning and then to the pool both Saturday and Sunday. Looks like the weather will cooperate - no snon, only rain.
Mike and Bill have been working on an update to our core principles program. They will be at the pool on Saturday as well doing some video work to demonstrate our method of diving with proper trim and propulsion. More to come on that as they complete the material.
Then on Sunday we have another big day at the pool. Ron will be working with a couple of certified divers as they look to get ready to head someplace warm to dive. Jay has a five-person discover scuba session as well. It is great to see so many folks interested in becoming scuba divers.
Our Philippines trip to Atlantis Dive Resorts in Dumaguete is currently sold out. We are attempting to get some additional space. If you are still interested, please contact the shop. It has proven to be a very popular destination. We also have a lot of other great spots to visit this year. Check them out.
Until next week, take care.
