The Busy Dive Season Continues, AWARE Week is coming and more

Scuba Shack Weekly - Volume 5 No. 207.

Finally - a break from the intense heat and humidity. What a welcome relief and just in time for our weekend up at Fort Wetherill. It was absolutely spectacular. We could not have asked for better weather for our fifth trip to Jamestown this year.

This past weekend we conducted our latest open water certification dives. It was a smaller group of four. With Ned and George’s help in the water and Monty running the shore patrol, I took our divers through their four dives. Congratulations to Zoe, Abigail, Jared and Walter for starting their underwater journey.

But that wasn’t all going on in Jamestown. Mike worked with Alfred on his Advanced Open Water certification. They completed their five dives over Saturday and Sunday. With Advanced Open Water completed, he is now looking forward to Rescue Diver in October.

Bill also started another open water class on Tuesday with Mike helping him out. This is another full class and they will be heading to the pool in New Britain this weekend for their confined water dives. Yes it has been busy.

PADI AWARE Foundation’s AWARE Week 2022 runs September 17 to 25. We plan on offering two programs in support of AWARE Week. The first program is the Coral Reef Conservation course. This is a fins off course open to all. The second program is the Dive Against Debris specialty course. This is a great way to dive with a purpose and your contribution as a citizen scientist. All the details and registration is on our website. Celebrate AWARE Week 2022 with Scuba Shack.

And just a heads up, Scuba Shack will be closed August 31 through September 5. We are taking a little break as we gear up for the rest of the dive season. Please plan accordingly.

Until next week, take care and good diving,

Jeff
