Welcome to May everyone and welcome to the warm weather. Yes it is May and time for the Kentucky Derby, Cinco de Mayo and diving. Monday was an absolutely spectacular day and the last few have been very nice. With the sun, I hope that the water starts to warm up as we make our way toward our first open water weekend later this month.
The gang is back from Islamorada and from the sounds of it they had a very nice week diving with Islamorada Dive Center. The rumor is that another Keys trip is in the offing for 2025. We will look to pencil in some dates soon.
Our May open water class starts tonight. George is taking the lead on this one. Tonight will feature some physics, physiology and dive planning. The class will continue with their equipment lectures, and confined water dives over the weekend.
We are finalizing our list for the Sea of Cortez trip onboard the Rocio del Mar in August. There are still a few spots left if you or anyone you know are on the fence. Next week, we will release the remaining spaces back to Mexican Liveaboards. At that point, we can only book the space if they haven’t already sold the slot. We have been told by Susan at Mexican Liveaboards that our week for the Midriff Islands is one of the best weeks of the year.
Alfred and Nancy continued their Assistant Instructor course this week. They were practicing their knowledge review presentations. That is always fun. Plus, Steven and Cheyenne were in for some final divemaster classroom work. They all will be headed to the pool this weekend for more training.
Until next week, take care.
