Scuba Shack’s PADI Divemaster training program is an intense 13-week program representing 75 clock hours of instruction. PADI Divemaster represents the first level of professional designation in PADI.

The program will consist of classroom lectures and workshops by Scuba Shack’s faculty, practical exercises in both confined and open water, and experience in both the retail and service side of the scuba diving business.

Students will be required to travel to Fort Wetherill in Jamestown, Rhode Island and to Dutch Springs in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania for practical exercises. Cost for travel, lodging, and food will be the student’s responsibility above and beyond the tuition and material cost payable to Scuba Shack.

Prerequisites

  • Minimum age to participate is 18 years old
  • Must be a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver and PADI Rescue Diver
  • Completed 40 logged scuba dives prior to starting the program (60 needed for designation)
  • Completed Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care training within 24 months
  • Medically evaluated and cleared for scuba diving by a physician with 12 months.

  • Water skills: 400-yard timed swim, 15-minute survival tread (final two minutes with hands out of water), 800-yard snorkel swim, and equipment exchange problem solving

Grading

Students will be evaluated in accordance with the current PADI Divemaster grading standards. Students must complete knowledge review, score at least 75 percent on written tests and 3.2 on graded practical skills.

Certification Requirements

Upon completion of the Scuba Shack PADI Divemaster Course students will be eligible to submit their application directly to PADI as long as the applicant has completed 60 logged scuba dives, including experience in deep, night and navigation dives. They must also have successfully completed Emergency First Responder training within the last 24 months.
