Join Scuba Shack and our dive professionals at Fort Wetherill State Park for a special Dive-and-Dine as we honor diving’s commitment to being environmentally responsible during the 7th annual PADI Aware Week.
Fort Wetherill State Park in Jamestown, Rhode Island is where the vast majority of divers in the area (RI & Nearby Massachusetts & Connecticut) took their first Open Water dives. There are two protected coves that provide a great opporunity for local diving. The main Scuba Area has ample parking as well as "porta potties" year round.

For the last several years, PADI has designated one week in September to help draw attention to the threat of pollution to our world’s waters and motivate divers around the world to action and reflection. On September 22nd, we’ll do our part by helping to clean up one of our most beloved dive sites, both on the shore and under the water. We’ll also spend time discussing Project AWARE and its related classes and opportunities, as well as how diving aims to be more sustainable and how you can get involved to help address the threats facing our oceans and waterways.
We encourage everyone to arrive by 8:00am, with the day’s dive briefing to follow at approximately 8:30am. Bring your own gear or rent what you need from our shop. Weather and time permitting, we’ll do two dives with an appropriate surface interval and then finish off with a hot meal on the grill. Our team will provide collection bags for debris we find on and under the water.
Rental Gear: Contact our team for details and pricing. Our rentals include lights. We’ll work with you to build a rental package for whatever diving you’re doing. Please considering bringing gloves with you! If you need gloves, you can rent some from our shop.
Food: Our team from Scuba Shack will be bringing a grill and some food, plus silverware and the like. Additional contributions of food (remember to be conscientious of food allergies!) or a donation of $5 towards the cost of the food.
If you’re interested in attending, please register through our website so we can get an accurate headcount. Completion of a Dive Activity Release form will be required for this activity.
