Scuba Shack Weekly – Volume 2, Number 26
I want to start out this week by congratulating our six new PADI Open Water Scuba Divers. Welcome to the community of divers. Great job! Thanks also to Joel and Ned for helping Monty, Donna and myself at Fort Wetherill.
We continue to be busy and are continuing to look at more options to do some different things. This week we had our quarterly staff meeting and I want to thank everyone who could make it. Monty will be starting an Open Water class this week and we also have Nitrox on Saturday to close out a very busy month of June.
In my last episode of Scuba Shack Radio (#8) I talked a little bit about deep diving and that one aspect is to ensure you have proper training. To help everyone get this training, Scuba Shack will be conducting a PADI Deep Diver Specialty course at Dutch Springs on Aug. 10 & 11. Details will be on the website shortly. This is a great way to gain the experience and comfort in venturing below 60 feet.
Also, in the podcast, I mentioned that one of the reasons for deep diving is to explore wrecks. To help everyone get training in wreck diving, Monty is conducting a PADI Wreck Diver Specialty course. This course will be conducted in two parts. Part one will be at Dutch Springs on Sept. 14 & 15 for some basic wreck diving. Part two will be two dives on the Chester Poling off Cape Ann, Mass. on Sept. 22. Details will be on the website shortly.
We recently got in a big shipment of aluminum 80 tanks – mostly yellow, and we are offering a special deal on the purchase of two or more tanks. Buy your first tank at the regular price and save $50 on your second tank. Please call the shop for more information.
Finally, I received an email from Julia Wilborn, the founder of Snorkel and Fins out of Australia. Julie saw one of my blog posts and thought our readers might be interested in an article she put together about how sunscreens are harming coral reefs. It is a very in-depth article. Thanks Julie for sharing. Also, you might want to check out the website.
Hope everyone is ready for July.
Thanks for tuning in,
Jeff
