Scuba Shack Weekly – Volume 2, Number 24
This past weekend was a spectacular weather weekend and a spectacular training weekend. Let me give you a quick recap. Monty and Phil were at Dutch Springs and completed one Open Water certification and five Advance Open Water certs. Deb, Steve and I were at Fort Wetherill and completed three Underwater Naturalist certifications. Ron, Lizzy and Ned completed an Open Water class with four students. Come and join the fun.
The Underwater Naturalist – New England edition was something new for us here at Scuba Shack. Deb Dauphinais and I started planning this out way back in the middle of winter. Deb is an expert in all the marine life here in New England and did a fantastic job in preparing a very interesting course.
We got to Fort Wetherill early Sunday morning and had a couple of hours of lecture that focused on all the various marine life we might encounter there. The lecture was followed by two dives with the objective of identifying plants, invertebrates, and vertebrates while observing behaviors. The water temperature and visibility made for some very nice dives that allowed our team to complete their mission.
Steve Dauphinais did a fantastic job navigating the team to the cool spots. Congratulations to our three new PADI Underwater Naturalist divers. We may look to do this again later in the summer. Stay tuned.
The latest edition of Scuba Shack Radio is out. Listen to my review of the new Osprey dive bags as well as the introduction to a new feature. You’ll have to listen to find out what that is.
If you like images of the ocean, check out this link to the Ocean Conservancy blog. These are some of the entries from their 2019 Photo Contest. It is titled 11 Jaw-dropping Ocean Images. Pretty cool stuff.
Finally, I want to wish all the Dad’s out there a Happy Father’s Day. Enjoy the day – maybe go diving.
Thanks for tuning in,
Jeff
