Happy Mother’s Day from Scuba Shack

Scuba Shack Weekly - Volume 7 No. 291.

I want to wish all the moms out there a very happy Mother’s Day 2024. We are hoping that we have some nice weather to celebrate. Seems like we’ve been a little bit challenged with the wet weather this spring. But it sure does look nice looking out the window at all the green and seeing the other colors burst on the scene. Now it is time to really kick off the dive season.

Last weekend Scuba Shack was back at the Middlesex YMCA for a couple of days of training. George and Sonja finished up the five confined water dives for our latest open water course, while Mike and Bill took Nancy and Alfred through their assistant instructor confined water teaching scenarios. Then on Sunday, Alex worked with three students preparing for their open water exam while Tom A. conducted a refresher course.

Episode 137 of Scuba Shack Radio is now available. In this episode I share my thoughts on scuba diver progression. I talk about the right gear, the right education and the right experience at the right time.

Also I was a guest on a new podcast from Scuba Diving Industry Magazine called Level Up. This podcast is produced by Greg Holt from Scuba Radio. I talked about my latest article in the May edition on how local dive shops are the “tip of the spear”.

This is the final call for Sea of Cortez if you want to guarantee your spot. The remaining spaces are being released back to Mexican Liveaboards. As I have mentioned before, we have one of the absolutely best weeks of the year for exploring the Midriff Islands. I am really looking back to getting out there in August.

Until next week, take care

Jeff
