IDC at Bigelow, New Open Water Course and more

Scuba Shack Weekly - Volume 5 No. 190. I hope that you all had a Happy Easter. It was a little too chilly for my taste. Donna keeps reminding me that it is still April here in New England and this is exactly what we should expect. You would think after 35 plus years here in CT, I would learn. Last Saturday, Monty had a plan to take Bill and Jay up to Jamestown to work on their open water teaching as part of their IDC. Well, they traveled to Fort Wetherill and were confronted with an angry sea. That also precluded them from making a dive over at Bull Point. So they pivoted back to Bigelow Hollow where they were able to finish up their open water training with calm but cold conditions. Tom has started a new open water class with six students. Tuesday night saw them at the shop going through orientation and dive planning. Next up is equipment night followed by their pool sessions this weekend. The new Halcyon BCs are working out great for our open water classes. They really make a difference in our training. Our May open water class and both June classes are full. Donna just opened up our first July class for sign up. It is great to see so many people interested and excited about starting their underwater adventure. It looks like a very busy dive season ahead. Stay tuned for more updates on local diving as we continue to investigate new spots. Take care, Jeff
