It’s Spring, there's lot of training ongoing, and more

Scuba Shack Weekly - Volume 6 No. 237.

Welcome to Spring 2023 everyone. We made it through a rather mild winter and now we can accelerate the sun and temperatures as we head into the dive season here in New England. We will however start things off with a quick trip to Islamorada in April. Monty and Bill will celebrate spring with five days of diving at Islamorada Dive Center April 17 - 21. If you are interested in getting some South Florida diving in, please call or email us soon so we can get you set up.

NEWS FLASH - We were able to extend our deadline to sign up for our trip to Grand Cayman over Memorial Day weekend until April 1st. You can still kick off this dive season in sunny, warm Grand Cayman with some awesome dives. We have two rooms available for booking.

Over the weekend we had a lot of activity at the shop. Mike and Bill continued on with their core class where they spent Saturday morning reviewing the video from the previous pool session along with some additional instruction. Then the group headed over to the pool for more work on their trim, propulsion and control. They finished up this intense course with a final session on Monday night to check out their final pool session video and wrap up. Mike and Bill put a lot of effort into the update of the curriculum and they will be offering the class again in June.

Tom and Peter along with Tom and Sonja conducted our latest confined water class. The class was full with six students developing their skills for future open water certification dives.

Deb was also at the pool on Sunday completing a refresher course and Ned conducted a Discover Scuba class for a family of three.

On Tuesday night, the Divemaster class was back at the shop where Jay took them through the RDP and Equipment sessions. They are making great progress toward the finish line.

And if that isn’t enough training, Tom was back at the shop on Wednesday night completing a Nitrox class for four. Nitrox is one of the most important classes for all divers and we are very pleased when both our new and experienced divers decide to get this certification.

Monty, Mike and I are off to our Zeagle regulator class on Friday and then Monty, George and I will head back down to New Jersey on Sunday for Beneath the Sea. More to come on that next week.

Yes - it is now spring and it’s time to think about diving again here in New England.

Take care,

Jeff
