Happy Halloween everyone! Trick or treat!

We are back from our week long adventure to Little Cayman Beach Resort and diving with Reef Divers. The resort is a divers paradise. We will definitely be making another trip to Little Cayman in the future. It is a popular trip and now we understand why. Our trip report will be coming out soon.

Even though it is almost November we still have a number of things going on at the shop. There is still time to sign up for the Project Aware specialty class. The class is being offered on Wednesday November 6 starting at 6:30 PM. The cost is $55 and includes your PADI Project Aware Specialty certification card. Our November Open Water class with Jill is full, however, if anyone is interested in doing confined water work this winter, please give us a call for our upcoming classes. With a limit of four students per class, they tend to fill quickly.

In one of my podcasts I talked about how important it is to have a surface marker buoy when diving. On the trip to Little Cayman as our divers were getting in the water they were faced with a pretty powerful unanticipated surface current. The dive was aborted but one of our divers was still in the water and drifted away from the boat rapidly. That is where training kicked in – remaining calm, making buoyant and deploying the SMB. It is amazing how much easier it is to spot a diver on the surface when the SMB is inflated. Here is a great article from Dive Training Magazine on deploying an SMB.

With Halloween happening this week, I thought I'd share this article on the Ocean Conservancy blog. The article is about five famous movie monsters inspired by marine animals. Amaze your friends with this bit of trivia. Enjoy!
