Rescue Diver complete, headed to Little Cayman and more

Scuba Shack Weekly - Volume 5 No. 215.

Well there was certainly a little frost on the pumpkin this past Sunday morning as we made our way up to Fort Wetherill for the Rescue Diver open water. I had to break out the knit cap and hoodie and even brought a heavy jacket just in case. Fall has come.

We had a great Rescue Class last week. It started on Thursday night with a classroom session, where we went over how the class would work, the types of exercises that we would be doing and the logistics for the weekend. On Saturday, everyone met at the shop to finish up a quick quiz and then it was off to the pool for a three hour session. We finished up early on Sunday morning in Jamestown. It was a bit breezy up there and we completed all the required scenarios and exercises just before the weather picked up and waves started crashing onshore. Congratulations to our newest Rescue Divers - Maura, Sonja, Alfred and Tom. I also want to give a big thank you to Bill, Jay and George for their hard work. What a great way to wrap up an incredibly busy training season at Scuba Shack.

And now it is time for a little (well, more like a lot of) FUN down in Little Cayman. We’ve been planning this trip for well over a year and now it is here. We will be doing at least 17 dives with most of them being on Bloody Bay Wall. It has been three years since we visited Little Cayman Beach Resort. Just a reminder that Scuba Shack will be closed starting October 14 and we will reopen on October 25.

We had originally planned a trip to Saba in early April. Unfortunately, we could not get the dates to work out. We are now looking at other options in the September timeframe. I hope to have more details on that soon. Putting together a comprehensive dive travel program is sometimes tricky.

We have also scheduled a confined water only course for November. There was a lot of interest in getting this part of the training done this year so folks could travel to a warm water destination for the open water certification dives. The course is scheduled for November 17 - 20. Check out the website for the details and pass it along.

Time to head to the Caymans.

Jeff
