Scuba Shack Weekly - Volume 6 No. 254.

It is hard to believe that we are coming to the end of July 2023. I have heard on the news that this was the wettest July ever in Connecticut and I think our team will agree. They braved some very rainy weather while conducting our open water certification dives this year. Our luck ran out because for the past several years we have enjoyed some fantastic weather while out diving. And while I liked the fact that I didn’t have to water my garden, there is such a thing as too much rain. And now it is on to August.

First I want to remind everyone that the dive shop will be operating with very limited hours over the next week. We will be closed on Friday July 28. The shop will be open on Saturday July 29 with limited staff. Scuba Shack will also be closed on August 1 through August 4. We will resume normal hours on Saturday August 5. Donna and I are headed to the Sea of Cortez to check out the Rocio del Mar ahead of our 2024 trip.

Last weekend we were back in at the Middlesex YMCA for our latest open water class. With the bigger pool we were able to expand the class. Jay and George led our nine students through their five confined water dives on Saturday and Sunday. This class is now ready for their open water certification dives. Many thanks to Tom A, Ned and Sonja for their help with this BIG class.

Also, Monty and Deb had four certified divers in the water on Sunday at the pool for some refresher training. It is always best to get comfortable in the water again after being away.

Mike was at Brownstone quarry this week conducting open water certification dives with Sonja’s help. Congratulations to Heather and Brian for their well-earned certification. We plan on being back at the Brownstone again in August for more.

I will be taking a week off from Scuba Shack Weekly next week. There is no wifi on the boat and we will just need to disconnect for a few days.

Until we return, take care,

Jeff
