Donna and I are back from our trip to the Philippines where we had the pleasure of staying at the Atlantis Dive Resorts in both Puerto Galera and Dumaguete. It was a fabulous trip and one that we hope to make again in the future. Come by and we can tell you all about it.
We did get our first shipment of Spicy Shark hot sauces. If you are looking for a stocking stuffer or want to get all six, we've got them.
There was in interesting front page article in this week's Hartford Courant - "Bag tax isn't raising much money". Apparently folks aren't willing to pay ten cents for a plastic bag and opt for reusable bags. They estimated that the bag tax would generate $27 million but in reality it will only be about $7 million. This is a great example of how quickly behaviors can change especially when tied to something as little as ten cents. I wonder what other behaviors can be changed to protect our environment.
The North Atlantic right whale is on the verge of extinction. A report on the Oceana website discusses this situation. It is titled Not Time to Lose: Last Chance for Survival for North Atlantic Right Whales. You can check out the press release, fact sheet, video, or download the report. With only about 400 of the species left including fewer than 100 breeding females the situation is dire.
Finally, the latest episode of Scuba Shack Radio is now available.
Thanks for tuning in,
