After completing your PADI Confined Water course, you are required to complete four Open Water dives with a PADI instructor.
What Qualifications Do I Need to Start?
Successful completion of PADI Confined Water Classroom and Pool training within 2 months of the Exam date. Longer periods of time may require a Refresher Pool session.
How Does It Work?
Contact Scuba Shack to arrange a wetsuit fitting and to reserve your Scuba Kit for pick up before class begins. Then meet us at Brownstone Adventure Park in Portland, Connecticut to complete two dives on Saturday morning and two dives on Sunday morning. After completing your open water exam, you will be invited to shop for food and refreshments and receive your certification before you leave.
Do I Need My Own Equipment?
You must provide your own personal gear (mask, snorkel, boots and fins). The course fee covers the use of the same gear you used in class, plus the use of a 7mil wetsuit, hood, gloves, dive computer and compass for the weekend.
What Do I Do Next?
Here are the steps to follow
1. Purchase your Scuba Shack Open Water Exam.
2. Get your mask, snorkel, boots and fins together. Pick up your Scuba Kit at Scuba Shack.
3. Get ready for FUN! Take the last step needed to become a PADI Certified Open Water Scuba Diver.
Is There Anything Else?
Yes - if you have not done so already, everyone who takes the PADI Open Water Exam must complete Liability Forms and an RSTC Medical Questionnaire). Based on your responses, you may be required to have your physician clear you for recreational scuba diving. A fully completed medical questionnaire is an industry requirement prior to any in-water training.
