With Memorial Day behind us, we can now say that we are in the summer season. That means more diving as we ramp up our schedule. Hope you are ready for your next diving adventure.
On Monday, the Nassau trip wrapped up for our 18 divers who spent four days of diving with Stuart Cove. As always, Peter reports that the group had a great time with some great weather. Stuart even drove the boat for them on their Saturday Safari. Stay tuned for a detailed trip report.
Monty and Mike also spent the day on Saturday getting prepared for our first technical training course this year. We have three divers set to embark on their PADI Tec 40 course and we conducted an orientation on Wednesday night. Technical diving requires rigorous training and is even more gear intensive than our normal recreational diving. We want to ensure that everyone knows what is needed and that we have the opportunity to properly outfit and configure our divers. I’ll keep you posted on their progress as the summer moves on.
Monty is also finishing up preparations for a public safety open water weekend this coming Saturday and Sunday. The divers will be completing their open water certification dives along with full-face mask and dry suit certifications.
In case you missed it, we’ve set up a Rescue Diver class for the later part of July. Normally, we do this class in the October timeframe but we had several folks who wanted to get the course done earlier. Check out the details.
Last week on Scuba Shack Radio’s Wet Notes segment I updated everyone on the latest news from Halcyon. They are discontinuing their Traveler and Traveler Pro series. The Adventure series featuring their carbon fiber backplate will now be their lightweight option. We do however have a couple of the Traveler Pros in stock for anyone looking for the stability of a Halcyon backplate and wing in a lightweight configuration.
Let the summer begin.
