New Scuba Shack Divers, Off to Nassau and more

Scuba Shack Weekly - Volume 5 No. 195.

How did everyone enjoy that little taste of summer over the past weekend? While it was quite warm and humid here at the shop, the weather up at Fort Wetherill was very pleasant. A little breeze off of the cool Atlantic Ocean makes for a natural air conditioner.

The Scuba Shack crew including me, Monty, Mike, Alex, Tom, Jay, Ned, Nancy and George was up in Jamestown, RI conducting our first open water certification dives of the season. Congratulations to our nine newly minted PADI Open Water Scuba Divers. Great job Nick, Rob, Chance, Ian, Kevin, Griffin, Jake, Jared, and Andrew. Several of our new divers also completed their Nitrox certification with their last dive on Sunday. Great job Nick, Ian and Jake on this very important certification. Now it is time to come and dive with us.

Mike also conducted a deep dive with Brian as he is looking to start his technical training. They entered down the left side and cut across then exited at the boat ramp.

It was a big weekend and there was quite a bit of activity at Fort Wetherill on Sunday. I believe there were at least four dive shops conducting training dives. Additionally there were a number of divers just out enjoying the spectacular weather. The beach was full of people as well getting their jump on summer.

Our annual Nassau trip is now underway. Peter is leading a group of 19 down to the island for four days of diving with Stuart Cove. They will be staying at Orange Hill once again and frequenting several fantastic dining establishments. Donna and I were not able to break free this year and we are going to miss the great time. We will be looking forward to hearing from the tales from the trip. Stay tuned for the trip report.

It looks like we may be setting up a Rescue Diver course for the later part of July. You can get more information on Rescue Diver from our website. Once the dates are settled, we will be making it available for online booking. You must be a PADI Advanced Open Water diver to participate in Rescue Diver. CPR certification is necessary to complete the course as well.

I hope that you all have a nice Memorial Day Weekend and stay safe.

Until next week, take care everyone,

Jeff
