Scuba Shack August 2021 Newsletter
Bill Mitlehner Aug 03, 2021
Back in May we launched the new Scuba Shack website. Over the past several months we have continued to expand the capabilities of the website to make interacting with Scuba Shack more convenient with an up-to-date online capability to sign up for classes, travel or to purchase your gear that is in stock and ready to pick up or ship. So please take a look at scubashackct.com for our class schedule with easy registration, or check out and reserve your spot on one of our upcoming trips.
There is no doubt that over the past eighteen months we’ve been just a little bit challenged with our diving travel. It has been difficult to navigate the various restrictions and requirements and we are finding that there are still places that are not open. But we’ve been aggressively working on our travel schedule. Yes - we want to go diving also. So we are pleased to announce some new and exciting trips to get you back out there.
We want to get away in October, so we’ve booked some diving with South Florida Diving Headquarters in Pompano Beach. We are billing this as a fly-and-dive event. Join us for four 2-tank boat dives to some very cool dive sites. All of the details are on our website. The fly-and-dive starts on Monday October 25 and we complete our last dives on Friday October 29. Wednesday October 27 is open for an optional dive at Blue Heron Bridge in Riviera Beach (about 40 mins north of Pompano). Starting price for the 4 2-tank boat dives is $340.
Back by popular demand, we are pleased to announce Scuba Shack’s return to Blue Angel Resort in Cozumel in February 2022. Join trip leader Joel Toohey as he takes you back to one of his favorite locations for a 7-night stay (breakfast included) with 5 days of 2-tank boat diving. The trip starts on Saturday February 26, 2022 and returns on Saturday March 5, 2022. Our divers love staying at Blue Angel - a place to relax and unwind within walking distance of town. A great value at $999 per double diver.
Additionally, you can also reserve your spot online for the October 2022 Little Cayman Beach Resort trip. This trip is filling up fast. You can book your double diver spot for a $250 early deposit rate.
One of the things we definitely need when traveling where we will be doing boat diving is a mesh boat bag. Well how about a mesh boat bag that also doubles as a regulator bag. That’s what you get with the Aqualung Explorer II Collapsible Mesh Duffle. The duffle portion zips into a pocket on the back of the regulator compartment. So now you can pack your regulator, carry it on the airplane and also have your mesh dive bag all in one. A great value at $60. Check it out on our online store.
We have had a very busy season so far in training new divers to start their underwater adventure. Are you ready for more? If you are ready to advance your diving we are offering the PADI Advanced Open Water course at Dutch Springs in September. We are also offering the PADI Wreck Diver specialty at Dutch Springs in September as well. Then in October you can complete your Rescue Diver certification - one of the most challenging and rewarding classes you can take as a recreational diver.
Now here is something that we do that is pretty special. It is the PADI Underwater Naturalist Class - New England edition. This is a one-day course with two dives at Jamestown, RI. You start this course by reading the Underwater Naturalist manual, completing the knowledge review and then joining us for your two dives where you will gain a whole new appreciation for Fort Wetherill and the marine life in the Northeast. Hope you can join us on Sunday, September 5.
As you can see there is a lot going on at Scuba Shack. Hope to see you soon.
